Europe’s oldest music festival, the Sanremo, brings the whole of Italy to a standstill each February as it offers up the latest batch of hopefuls who want to follow in the footsteps of the now famous Italian singers Andrea Bocelli, Giorgia, Mietta, Laura Pausini and Eros Ramazzotti. Known for both its strong focus on original compositions, as well as the singing prowess of the contestants, it has been a way for up-and-coming wannabes to flex their vocal chords alongside established stars since 1951.
It’s broadcast each evening on television, but seeing the singers on the gogglebox is nothing compared to getting up close and personal with the talented beauties of the Sanremo Music Festival. A beautiful place to visit at any time of year, Sanremo turns into a music lovers paradise when this musical circus comes to town. This year the Sanremo Italian Song Festival will take place from February 18 till 22.
